JUST IN: CAF Demands Kwesi Appiah Resign Before Ghana vs. Sudan AFCON Qualifiers

Date:

CAF has demanded that Akwesi Appiah immediately resign from one of his two roles ahead of the upcoming AFCON Qualifiers between the Ghana Black Stars and Sudan.

This call for action comes as tensions rise within the national team following a challenging start to the qualification process.

As the senior national team gears up for its first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium later today, the urgency for a leadership decision looms large. The Black Stars are preparing to face Sudan in crucial Matchday three and four fixtures of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Akwesi Appiah currently holds dual positions, which has raised concerns regarding effective leadership and focus on the national team. With Ghana’s disappointing results—a 1-0 defeat against Angola in the opener followed by a 1-1 draw with Niger—the pressure is mounting for a change.

CAF’s demand reflects a broader concern about the team’s performance and the need for cohesive management ahead of these critical matches.

The first leg against Sudan is set for Thursday, October 10, at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by the return leg on October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.

As the Black Stars strive to secure their first win in the qualifiers, the focus remains on optimizing their preparations and ensuring that all elements of the team are aligned for success. Supporters are keenly watching to see how the leadership situation unfolds and its potential impact on the team’s morale and performance.
