Newcastle United Football Club has confirmed Sandro Tonali will return to football action on August 28 after a 10-month ban.
Tonali, 24, was sanctioned by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) for breaching football betting rules of itself, Uefa, and Fifa before his £55 million move to Newcastle.
“The club has received formal confirmation from the Federazione Italiana Guioco Calico (FIGC) that the player’s sporting sanction will run up to and including Tuesday, 27th August,” said Newcastle.
The Italian will face fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on his return.
The manager of the club said the player still has his “edge” but will miss the Premier League’s opener against Southampton on Friday, August 16.
