MAX ENTERTAINMENT: Managers are responsible for indiscipline among musicians – Uncle Ebo Whyte

Date:

Popular playwright and event organizer, Uncle Ebo Whyte, has charged musicians to choose managers who will put them on track to ensure the growth of their careers.

According to him, the indiscipline on the part of some Ghanaian musicians was attributed to poor management.

Speaking in a media interview, the Roverman Productions boss noted that many managers lacked skills and often were behind the indiscipline attitude musicians exhibited.

“We do not have many of our artistes who have managers that they respect. In many cases, the person he introduces as his manager is nothing more than a glorified messenger. So the manager cannot ask him to do anything he decides not to do,” he said.

Citing some indiscipline attitude exhibited by musicians, Uncle Ebo Whyte said there had been instances where some artistes appeared late at events or charged fees for events and did not turn up.

That, he noted, was due to poor managerial skills, stressing that the musicians did not have anyone to whip them into line.

Uncle Ebo Whyte also cited an artiste who was billed to perform at a concert in the United Kingdom (UK) but couldn’t make it to the show since he had passed out from an overdose of drug intake.

For the creative industry to take shape, the playwright expressed an urgent need for the above-listed concerns to be addressed.
