Former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Collins Dauda, has become the longest-serving Member of Parliament (MP) on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The 67-year-old was sworn in as Member of the ninth Parliament on January 7, 2025. He beats former MP for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu’s record of serving in Parliament for seven terms.
Representing the people of Asutifi South in the Ahafo Region, Hon. Dauda was a member of the first Parliament under the 4th Republic from 1993 to 1997 before being re-elected to join the second Parliament from 1997 to 2001.
However, he lost to the New Patriotic Party’s Cecilia Djan Amoah in the 2000 Parliamentary Elections, but regained his seat in 2005 and has been in Parliament ever since.
