2025 AFCON Q: Why Ghana-Sudan double header dates changed

Date:

The Ghana Football Association has announced a new change of dates for the Black Stars 2025 Africa Cup of Nations double header against Sudan.

Ghana will fly out to Benina, Libya, on October 15 instead of the original date of October 14 after playing Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10 instead of October 11.

This is due to Sudan’s complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after their plans were left in disarray during the late announcement of Ghana’s home venue.

Initial plans by the Football Association of Sudan were to pitch an early camp in Accra ahead of the game in Kumasi, but CAF instructed the Ghana Football Association to search for a home venue outside Ghana after Angola reported the bad nature of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium despite their victory on September 5, 2024.
