The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved the 2025/26 GFA Omnibus Competitions Calendar following a presentation by the General Secretary at a meeting held on June 9, 2025.
The new season kicks off on July 1, 2025, and ends on June 30, 2026, in line with the GFA Statutes and financial year. The calendar was designed with the 23rd FIFA World Cup in mind, ensuring all domestic competitions wrap up before the global tournament begins on June 11, 2026.
Key Features of the 2025/26 Calendar:
- Premier League: Matches will be held on Sundays, with midweek dates set aside for outstanding games, maintaining the 2024/25 format.
- Division One & Women’s Premier League: Also to be played primarily on Sundays.
- MTN FA Cup: Only a few matches in the Round of 64 and 63 may take place midweek; Women’s FA Cup ties remain on weekends.
- eTrophy – GFA eFootball: The virtual competition returns to offer gamers a shot at representing Ghana’s national eFootball team.
- Beach Soccer & Futsal: Both leagues will run during the season.
- Regional Competitions: All RFA leagues—Division Two, Three, Regional Women’s Division One, and Colts (U13, U15, U17)—will begin by October 1, 2025, and end by May 31, 2026.
- Girls Colts Expansion: U15 and U17 Girls Colts leagues will launch nationwide, supported by FIFA and the 10 RFAs, after successful pilots in the Northern and Greater Accra Regions.
- Off-season Tournaments: Will include the Elite U15 Girls Championship, Elite U19 Second Division, U15 Boys Elite Competition, and the KGL Foundation U17 Colts Championship.
The early announcement of registration windows and the 31st GFA Congress date reflects the Association’s push for structured planning. The GFA aims to deliver a vibrant and well-coordinated football season across all levels.
