Why Gyökeres rejected other clubs for Arsenal

Date:

Sweden striker Viktor Gyökeres has revealed why he signed for Arsenal despite offers from other top European clubs.

Gyokeres finally signed his contract as a new Arsenal player on Saturday.

Gyökeres sealed the deal after completing his medicals at the Emirates Stadium.

Gyökeres will wear the number 14 shirt at the north London side and is joining the club from Sporting CP.

Speaking to the club’s website on Thursday, he said, “There were more clubs involved but I wanted to come here at Arsenal… it’s the best club for me.

“It wasn’t an easy deal. Some people spoke to the media all the time… they thought they were protecting the interest of the club.”

Many people believe that the Mikel Arteta side’s lack of a natural striker cost them the Premier League title last season when they finished second behind Liverpool.
