Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has announced a lucrative deal for clubs participating in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) ahead of the upcoming season.
Since StarTimes partnership with the GFA ended at the climax of the 2023/24 season, AFA TV and Globe TV were contracted by the country’s football governing body to broadcast the league for the 2024/25 season.
The GFA, along with its Executive Council, deemed it prudent to hand over the production and broadcasting rights to Adesa Production Limited.
Mr. Okraku, who is also the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football, revealed in the unveiling of the broadcast partnership that every club will receive GHS1 million before the 2025/26 season starts.
“Each premier league will receive a million Ghana cedis before the start of the season,” he said, serving as a minimum payment for clubs under the new module.
This, Mr. Okraku believes, is a firm commitment by the GFA, APL, and government to ensure Ghana football becomes what it has to be.
