Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have arrived in Ben Slimane, Morocco, to begin preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The team touched down in the early hours of Tuesday, June 17, after departing Accra’s Kotoka International Airport earlier that morning.
Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren recently named a 24-player provisional squad for the tournament, which is set to kick off on July 5 and end on July 26.
While not all invited players have joined camp yet, the technical team expects the full squad to assemble in the coming days as preparations intensify.
Ghana has been drawn into Group C, where they will face defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania in a highly competitive group stage.
The 2024 WAFCON, originally scheduled earlier, will officially begin on July 5, with all eyes on the Black Queens as they aim to make a strong impact on Moroccan soil.
