The Black Stars captain suffered a knock late on in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Andre Ayew has not trained with the side since arriving but will be given the chance to prove their fitness ahead of the trip to Birmingham.
“Andre’s back and everyone knows he had a bit of a knock,” Steve Cooper said.
“Conor Hourihane came off against Cardiff so them two players have got a chance of playing but they’re not training at the moment.
“We’ll see how it goes by the time Friday comes.
“When Conor walked off in the last game, I think we all thought he pulled his hamstring which could be a minimum of two or three weeks.
“But it was nerve damage as opposed to a strain which is really positive. That’s why he’s not far off being back with us. That was positive. Andre’s not too far off either.”
Swansea City will be hoping to have their talisman back in the team ahead of the game as they seek to chance automatic qualification to the Premier League.
The Black Stars captain is the club’s leading top sorcerer with 14 goals in 36 appearances in the ongoing campaign.
Swansea City is third on the league table with 69 points.
