Afro dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, has described those who talk against the dancehall genre as “irresponsible.”
According to him, the genre traced its origin from the blacks and should be respected and adored.
His statement came after artiste Manager Gomski stated that the greatest problem in the industry is the dancehall genre.
Responding to the statement in a recent media interview, Stonebwoy described the speech as “irresponsible” and the notion of the dancehall genre being the industry’s greatest problem should be squashed.
He therefore urged him to retract the statement and apologize to dancehall musicians.
“That is an irresponsible talk from him (Gomski) Mugeez is his artiste, and we all know how big and well respected he is in the Ghana music industry. So, that statement from Gomski, I think if he retracts his words, it would do well for us as an industry,” he stated.
Stonebwoy noted that as a dancehall artiste, he utilized every opportunity to project Ghanaian music for the industry to be known.
“I just came back from Ivory Coast, I went to perform over there, and any stage you will see me on, I try to put Ghana on the map, and I put my heart into it… So, dancehall is the best thing that could have happened to the Ghana music,” he said.
Stonebwoy added that since he has dedicated both his resources and time to the dancehall genre, he would not permit anyone to defame it.
“This is the music of Black origin. I studied this in school and I have invested money into my craft, so, I would not allow someone who has not invested a penny to talk foul about the dancehall music. I have hit songs in the Afrobeat. In fact, the most collaboration from the dancehall genre,” he added.
