The Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) has revealed that over 60% of billboards across Ghana are illegally erected, lacking proper authorization and posing serious public safety and regulatory concerns.
According to AAG President Andrews Ackah, a past student of Saint Augustine’s College, many of these billboards are installed in hazardous locations such as pedestrian walkways, highway medians, and intersections, increasing accident risks and urban congestion.
Ackah also highlighted a growing trend where billboard installations spike ahead of elections, often with political backing, leading to unregulated outdoor advertising.
The AAG is urging authorities to strictly enforce billboard regulations to prevent urban clutter, enhance public safety, and restore order in Ghana’s advertising landscape.
