In compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) regulations, the government of Ghana introduced the new chip-embedded passport.
Underscoring Ghana’s foreign policy objectives, the country stepped to modernise her travel identity system under the Nana Akuffo-Addo administration.
The current Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, has warned of sanctions on passport officials who fail to deliver the chip-embedded passports within 15 days.
According to the honourable minister on his Facebook page, no applicant shall receive an extra charge on courier (by Ghana Post) delivery of the new passports.
The reduced application fees coupled with the 24-hour passport operations and delivery service are welcomed initiatives by Ghanaians.
