The President of the Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commends His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, president of the Republic of Ghana, for championing Pan-Africanism.
At the 66th Ordinary Session of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Abuja, Nigeria, President Tinubu lauded the outgoing Head of State in Ghana, H.E. Nana Akuffo Addo.
President Tinubu also called on not only West African States, but the whole of Africa to emulate Ghana’s democracy, especially after yet another peaceful presidential and parliamentary election.
“I urge all of us in the region to learn from this good democratic practice and prioritise our country’s national unity to ensure political stability of the region so that this manner of peaceful transition becomes the culture of democracy not only in West Africa but also in the entire African continent,” Tinubu said.
President Nana Addo is currently working hand-to-hand with the incoming president of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama in the transition process ahead of January 7, 2025.
Though President Nana Addo’s championing of Pan-Africanism has often faced critiques, his efforts were recognized by President Tinubu at the session on Monday, December 16, 2024.
