David Asamoah has been appointed as the acting Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), effective September 25, following the resignation of Samuel Dubik Mahama. Asamoah, who previously held the position of Deputy Managing Director for Commercial Services, steps into this temporary role as the Government of Ghana, the sole shareholder of ECG, prepares to make a long-term decision regarding leadership.
The announcement was made by ECG’s Board Chairman, Alexander Afenyo Markin. With extensive experience at ECG, Asamoah has also served as the Sectional Manager of Revenue, where he focused on Technical Investigations.
His expertise includes navigating complex cases, notably testifying in court against companies involved in illegal power connections, showcasing his commitment to maintaining integrity within the sector. As he takes on this new role, Asamoah aims to ensure the continuity and stability of ECG’s operations during this transitional period.
