MAX NEWS: 2,276 reported road accidents deaths in 2023

According to the Daily Graphic, statistics released by the National Road Safety Authority reveal that 2,276 people were killed in 14,135 reported road crashes involving 23,998 vehicles.

The statistics determined a decline in deaths in 2023, compared to 2022, by 4.1 percent, injuries by 1.8 percent, and crashes by 5.5 percent.

2,373 people died in road accidents, while 15,690 suffered injuries in 14,960 reported accidents in 2022.

In 2023, 2,559 pedestrians were knocked down, while 15,409 people endured road accident-caused injuries.

A total of 470 females and 1,806 males died in road accidents in 2023.

The data further showed that 322 of the deceased were below 18 years old, while 1,954 were above 18.

The Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority, David Osafo Adonteng, assured that measures are being put in place to prevent more of these accidents.

“Measures should be sustained in these strategic regions to help reduce the numbers at the national level,” he said.
