Ace musical duo Lydia Dedei Yawson Nee Tagoe and Elizabeth Korkoi Tagoe known in showbiz circles as Tagoe Sisters are set to celebrate 40years anniversary with a gospel show on Sunday October 15, 2023 at Accra International Conference Centre.
Dubbed: “40years of God’s blessings and favour,” the celebration is to herald their impact in the country’s entertainment scenes.
The occasion which will be graced by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, Amy Newman, Piesie Esther, Nacee, Kwabena Kwabena and Kuami Eugene will also project new musicians.
Speaking on Max Morning Dew in Accra on Friday, Tagoe Sisters indicated that the journey has not been easy as they have passed through many obstacles to have gotten to where they are now.
“Following Reverend (Sofo) Amoako, we were engaged in several accidents but it is God’s grace that we are still living,” they said.
Chronicling their achievement, Tagoe Sisters said they had set a foundation “Tagoe Sisters Twin and Children Foundation,” for the past ten years to cater for the expenses of twins, triplets and children with special needs from elementary to tertiary.
The foundation also caters for the medical expenses of postpartum mothers who could not afford bills and treatment.
The musicians said the gospel event would be strictly by invitation and were expecting 400 guests and patrons.
Tagoe Sisters started their music in 1979 when they were 16years old and have released several albums including Stay in Heart, Manya Yesu and Anka Matete.
Aside winning several awards, in March 2021, the group was honored by the organizers of 3Music Awards in an event called the 3Music Women’s Brunch.
