MAX GPL TALK: Why RTU board chairman resigned-PRO

Date:

The Public Relations Officer for Real Tamale United (RTU), Sey Mubarak, has shed light on the eventualities that led to the resignation of the club’s board chairman, stating that he never had peace of mind since assuming the post.

The Tamale-based club endured a torrid 2022–23 campaign after finishing 11th and losing a couple of its big-name players, but faces more misery as the club confirmed the exit of its board chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mahama, to compound their plight with just six weeks remaining to the start of the new season.

There’s been widespread news about fans’ dissatisfaction with the output of its board members and the club’s board chairman, especially with the club’s PRO alluding to his eventual exit to the fan’s outcry.

Speaking in an interview with Max FM, the club’s PRO, Sey Mubarak, said, “The club hasn’t been financially stable for some time now, and he [Ibrahim Mahama] has not had peace since taking the job. Most of the board members have resigned, and we have only about six out of the fifteen board members remaining at the club.”

When asked how the last happenings could affect the club, Mr. Mubarak answered, “It’s a huge blow to the club, but it also means that the club will have to turn in a new direction and have new investors come on board.”

RTU will be hoping to come back stronger from their recent woes as the club continues to fix its administrative and on-field issues with just a little over 6 weeks remaining until the start of the 2023–24 BetPawa Premier League campaign.
