Highlife singer Kuami Eugene says Mr. Drew has the least idea that releasing a track without the approval of the songwriter is illegal.
This, he said, was the reason his colleague did not seek his acceptance before releasing “Case,” a song about which he wrote about 80 percent of it.
“He didn’t have total knowledge of what he was doing. He didn’t know that if you put music out there without the consent of the one who wrote it, it’s illegal. So I won’t blame him,” he said.
Kuami Eugene made this known during a recent media interview in which he explained that Mr. Drew has finally done the needful by paying him for writing 80 percent of his smash hit “Case.”
“He is a brother, and I am glad he learned, and he hit me up right after everything. He’s given me my percentage,” he stated.
This comes weeks after the “cryptocurrency” hitmaker expressed his disappointment in Mr. Drew for releasing the “Case” song without his approval and without acknowledging him properly for the contributions he made to the success of the track.
