MARIO ZAGALLO: Brazilians bid farewell to four-time World Cup winner

Date:

Football fans in Brazil are saying their final goodbye to the legendary Brazilian footballer and coach, Mario Zagallo, who passed away at the age of 92.

Zagallo was a winger who started in both of Brazil’s World Cup finals when they won the competition in 1958 and 1962.

In 1970, he led the team that many consider to be the best ever, which included Pele, Jairzinho, and Carlos Alberto, to victory.

In 1994, while serving as Carlos Alberto Parreira’s assistant coach, Zagallo won his last World Cup.

Following the competition, he took back the reins as manager of Brazil, taking them all the way to the 1998 final until France, the hosts, defeated them.

He became the first individual to win a World Cup in both playing and management career.
