The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has decided to withdraw from the Akwatia by-election.
The election, scheduled for September 2, 2025, is to fill the vacant parliament seat after the death of Ernest Yaw Kumi, who previously held the position.
“We believe that in this moment of grief and national uncertainty, unity and compassion must take precedence over political rivalry,” a statement signed and issued by the General Secretary of the LPG, Jerry Owusu Appauh, said.
This follows the NPP’s decision to opt out of the run for the vacant Tamale Central seat after the tragic death of Hon. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
