Match day 12 of the BetPawa Premier League saw Kumasi Asante Kotoko pull off a thrilling 1-3 comeback victory over Legon Cities at the Sogakope Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The match got off to an exciting start in a carnival atmosphere at the stadium with exquisite dances performed by the native Borborbor group. In the 26th minute, Legon Cities’ early pressure paid off as skipper Nasiru Moro netted a sublime free-kick to give the home club a first-half lead.
In the 66th minute, Suleman Mohammed caused an own goal from Legon Cities, as the Porcupine Warriors started the second half like ruthless vikings on a quest.
Dr. Prosper Ogum’s team didn’t give up and continued to press, finally taking the lead in the 75th minute thanks to a superb finish by Steven Mukwala.
In the 93rd minute, Isaac Oppong completed the comeback, propelling Asante Kotoko to eighth place in the league standings, three spots ahead of rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
At the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Asamoah Boateng grabbed a late winner for Nations FC over Karela United from the penalty spot to move them fifth in the league standings.
