Why We Sacked Frimpong Manso— GoldStars

Date:

The football ecosystem was hit with a huge shock following the sacking of Frimpong Manso as head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars.

Why would you sack a coach who led you to your club’s first-ever top division title? Many quizzed the decision of Gold Stars management.

When first questioned on Max FM’s Sports Pack on why the need to part ways with the coach, Samuel Kwagyire, Public Relations Officer of the club, claimed he was not sacked because of the loss to JS Kabylie.

However, he disclosed numerous internal frictions, which clearly had gradually caused them to lose interest in letting Frimpong Manso stay after providing all that he requested.

“A lot has happened between Frimpong Manso and the club’s management,” said Mr Kwagyire, suggesting the disagreements had reached the brim, forcing management to opt for a new direction for the club.

According to the P.R.O., the leadership of the club had to force Frimpong Manso to make certain changes which they felt were needed in the CAF Confederation Cup qualifier against JS Kabylie in Accra last Sunday.

Shockingly, the coach refused to allow his players to partake in a preparational game ahead of their maiden continental match against Algerian champions JS Kabylie. A game, the management felt, could’ve painted a different story against the Algerians.

With many writing down the chances of qualification for the Ghanaian champions, Mr Kwagyire expressed extreme confidence in the club causing a huge upset in the return leg to advance to the second preliminary round, especially with Nana Yaw Amankwah as interim head coach.
