Asante Kotoko has announced their return to the Ghana Premier League after a 23-day hiatus due to the death of popular fan Nana Pooley.
The club’s Public Relations Officer, Lawyer Sarfo Duku, confirmed in a press conference on Monday morning at the club’s headquarters in Kumasi.
Following a series of security and safety meetings with the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Football Association, the team resumed training last week.
However, the club’s MTN FA Cup round of 16 tie was postponed to a new date yet to be announced by the Ghana Football Association.
Kotoko would return to competitive football after Nana Pooley is buried on March 6, 2025.
“I would like to declare that, based on the happenings, Asante Kotoko shall be ready for action after the burial and final funeral rite of the late Nana Pooley,” Lawyer Duku said in the presser.
“We have players we have to pay, and we have a CAF calendar to meet. The fans are aware of every step we take. They always take part in the meeting with all the stakeholders,” he added.
