Fast track modalities for actors to receive royalties—Akofa Edjeani

Date:

Veteran actress, Akofa Edjeani Asiedu has called on the national film authorities to fast track modalities that will ensure actors gain their necessary royalties.

That, she said will help actors to save in case of emergency.

Speaking in a phone interview with Max TV on e-Quick, an entertainment show last Friday, the actress explained that actors were not well paid.

“The money actors receive is nothing to write home about. Again, they hardly receive any royalties. If they receive a yearly royalty, they will be able to save to curtail any case of inconvenience,” she said.

Akofa observed that many television stations in the country were also failing to pay royalties, making industry crawl on its knees.

She also disclosed that there was no insurance policy for any actor to fall on in case of emergency and expressed the need for the authorities to roll out such social interventions for performers.

Akofa’s statement was to explain the reason a go-fund me account was always established to solicit funds for industry players whenever they were hit by health emergencies.
