Black Stars head coach Otto Addo visits Abdul Mumin in Spain as the Ghanaian defender continues his recovery from a thigh injury sustained in March. The morale-boosting visit took place at Rayo Vallecano’s base, where the 26-year-old centre-back is undergoing rehabilitation.
Mumin suffered the injury during Rayo Vallecano’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla on March 31, 2025, and has not featured in La Liga since. The visit by Otto Addo is seen as a key gesture of support, especially with the Black Stars preparing for a high-profile four-nation friendly tournament in the UK.
Ghana will face Trinidad & Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica on May 28 and June 31, 2025, in London as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September. Unfortunately, Mumin will miss these fixtures, having already been ruled out of previous qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
With nine senior caps to his name, Abdul Mumin expressed appreciation for the coach’s visit and shared progress details on his rehabilitation journey. The Black Stars technical team continues to monitor his recovery closely.
This tournament in the UK not only serves as international exposure but also a crucial assessment period for the squad ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
