Nurudeen Amadu has resigned as head coach of the defending champions of the Ghana Premier League, FC Samartex 1996.
Amadu, 54, led the Timber boys to the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League title in his first season as head coach.
The former King Faisal coach joined FC Samartex in July 2023 after heavy favorites for the job, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum answered the call of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu to return to Asante Kotoko.
Officially taking over from Annor Walker, Amadu was tasked with ensuring Samartex finished the season higher than the previous season, where they sat 10th by its end, which he exceeded expectations and qualified the Samaraboi side to the qualification stages of the CAF Champions League.
The coach’s decision to leave may relate to the team’s alarming on-field performances, winning four games, losing nine times, and drawing five.
The next head coach of Samartex will have a difficult task at hand to turn fortunes around as the league heads into the second round.
