The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has directed the Internal Audit Unit to immediately release the 2024 NSA audit report, citing administrative lapses and a lack of transparency.
This directive was issued following the failure of the Internal Auditor to present the report during the inauguration of a new Audit Committee at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Mr. Ankrah voiced serious concerns over what he described as unacceptable negligence, warning that such lapses could tarnish the image of the Authority. In response, he has mandated full collaboration between the Audit Unit and relevant stakeholders to ensure the report is completed and made public without further delay.
Flanked by Dr. Eric Oduro Osae, Director General of the Internal Audit Agency, Mr. Ankrah reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and adherence to the Public Financial Management Act. He pledged full support for the work of the Audit Unit in promoting sound financial practices across the Authority.
Dr. Oduro Osae urged NSA leadership to back the Audit Unit with the necessary resources and emphasized the urgency of addressing unresolved issues before the final submission of the 2024 NSA audit report. He further stressed the need for a comprehensive risk management framework, expected to be submitted by 30th April 2025.
The newly inaugurated Audit Committee includes:
-
Mr. Aminu Yakubu
-
Mr. Felix K. Aveh
-
Mahamadu Abubakari Mohammed
-
Edem Dussi
-
Dzoidzom S.N. Detcher
-
Hubert Leo Mensah
After their swearing-in, the members committed to transparency, integrity, and effectiveness in their roles.
This move is seen as a strong statement by the NSA leadership to reinforce internal controls and foster accountability, ahead of the much-anticipated Unity Cup Tournament and other national sporting initiatives.
