JUST IN: Four dead, three rescued in Sunyani-Kumasi Highway crash

Date:

A fatal accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway in the early hours of Wednesday, March 26, 2025, resulted in four deaths and three rescues.

The crash occurred near the Fire Academy and Training School (FATS) at approximately 5:45 a.m., involving a KIA truck (GT 5335-19) and a Toyota RAV4 (AS 4365-20). The Bechem Fire Command responded swiftly, arriving at the scene by 5:53 a.m.

Rescue teams found seven victims, with four trapped—three inside the RAV4 and one in the KIA truck. The Duayaw-Nkwanta Fire Service later reinforced the operation at 6:12 a.m. After a challenging extraction, four bodies were recovered, while three injured individuals were rushed to Saint John’s of God Hospital and Bechem Government Hospital for urgent medical care.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, while the Ahafo Regional Fire Service urges motorists to drive cautiously to prevent further tragedies.
