Following the heavy backlash he has received with his dull and calm nature, the “Akokoa” hitmaker has rejected advice to sniff “weed” to boost his craft and stage performance.
He said nothing would make him lose his true self just to satisfy the whims of Ghanaians who claim his stage performance lacks vibrance and entertaining elements.
Safo Newman, who lamented this in an interview, said that many had advised him to use illegal drugs to boost his confidence level, wildness, performance on stage, and to take away his shyness and calm attitude.
“People have actually recommended that I should do some of these things [drugs] so that I will go wild [on stage]. I won’t be doing that. I don’t think I can do that,” he said.
The young, talented star explained that he was adamant to do so since he did not want to embrace a lifestyle that could keep him from his true self.
He assured that he was working to strengthen his shortcomings and would also continue to create inspiring songs for his fans.
Known for songs like Miss Isabela, Sorrow Fly, March Past and All the Way, Safo Newman is currently out with a song titled “NPP, NDC” to preach peace ahead of the December polls.
