The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected Edo Queens’ appeal to be reinstated as champions of the WAFU Women’s Champions League final against Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
The decision means the ruling requiring the final to proceed to extra time remains in place, following the controversy surrounding the original match.
Edo Queens had challenged the outcome in an attempt to have the title awarded to them. However, CAF’s rejection of the appeal leaves the earlier ruling unchanged, paving the way for the extra-time proceedings to go ahead as previously directed.
