The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), loses recognition after failing to adhere to directives of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
This follows Mr Eric Odura Osae, who is the Chief Executive Officer of ICAG, inadherence to dropping an unearned “Dr” title, for which he had been asked to provide proof of certificate.
GTEC noted after an investigation into the doctoral certificates of Mr Osae from the Swiss Management Centre (SMC) and Universidad Central de Nicaragua (UCN) in a letter dated October 8, 2025, that they were invalid.
“As a result of these unresolved discrepancies, the certificates from Swiss Management Centre and Universidad Central de Nicaragua are hereby declared invalid,” the 2025 letter read.
Fast-forward to a letter dated January 8, 2026: Mr Osae has been thereby directed to drop the doctoral title from his public profile.
GTEC’s decision, though hurting the credibility of ICAG and its CEO, stated it can be reversed provided appropriate measures are taken by Mr Osae.
