The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has cleared unauthorised structures around the Achimota Ayalolo bus stop as part of efforts to restore order and improve the use of public spaces in the capital.
The exercise, led by Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, is aimed at removing structures occupying unauthorised spaces around the transport facility and addressing activities that may obstruct pedestrian movement and affect the free flow of traffic.
The Achimota area is an important transport point for commuters travelling to and from various parts of Accra. The presence of unauthorised structures around the bus stop can create congestion and make it difficult for pedestrians and public transport operators to use the area conveniently.
The Mayor, in collaboration with the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, is also seeking to remove structures and trading activities from unauthorised spaces within the city.
The Assembly’s action forms part of broader efforts to enforce metropolitan regulations and ensure that public spaces are used for their intended purposes.
