Herbal Doc Raises Concerns Over Gonorrhea Infections and Birth Defects

Date:

Renowned herbal doctor Professor Wiafe Akenten has said that gonorrhea is linked to a higher risk of birth defects in newborn babies.

Speaking on the Max Morning Dew on Max FM on the topic of gonorrhoea and its symptoms, hosted by Kumi Kasa and Akosua Greeno, Dr Akenten emphasises that gonorrhoea can be transmitted from mother to child during delivery.

Untreated gonorrhoea increases the risk of premature birth and eye infections in babies.

According to the professor, gonorrhoea may contribute to congenital abnormalities. Untreated gonorrhoea poses serious risks to newborns.

Meanwhile, recent research indicates that over 40 per cent of nearly 3,000 tested young women had gonorrhoea infections across Ghana.
