Former Hearts of Oak management member Alhaji Farouk Al Wahab believes his beloved club will never rule Africa like it once did in its glorious years.
The Rainbow club in the golden years of 2001 and 2004 dominated the whole of Africa by winning the CAF Champions League and the maiden CAF Confederation Cup.
Hearts lost the CAF Super Cup final to Enyimba in 2005, but had previously placed second in the CAF Champions League in 1977 and 1979.
Alhaji Wahab, in an interview with Nana Darkwa Gyasi on Max FM, candidly reckons that the club will never be able to dominate like it used to in the 70s and the early 2000s.
“Never. Because we don’t have the team. I don’t foresee us (Hearts of Oak) having a team… Those players who played for Hearts during the glorious times, do we have their calibre of players now?” he asked on the Sports Pack show.
Although the team has not accomplished anything in continental football since Togbui Afede XIV, he remains optimistic about bringing back the glory days.
