The University of Ghana Sports Stadium, temporary home for the Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak, was rejected by the Club Licensing Board as a venue for Ghana Premier League matches (GPL).
With the league expected to resume after the burial of slain popular fan of Asante Kotoko, Nana Pooley, clubs are scrambling to have their respective venues pass safety protocols check to be approved.
Kwame Opare Addo, Public Relations Officer of Hearts of Oak, remains hopeful of the UG Stadium is approved because it has been their adopted home since the start of the 2024-25 GPL season.
“Our hope is to remain at the venue because from the beginning of the season, that has been the home for us and the supporters,” he said on the Sports Pack show on Max FM.
To make sure all safety protocols are adhered, Opare Addo revealed the club has had talks with the Football Association and UG Stadium officials.
