Grace Ashly: Aduana Stars inspired me to sing for the Ghana Black Stars

Date:

Sensational Ghanaian gospel singer and songwriter, Grace Ashly has revealed that she was inspired to start writing and singing songs for the Black Stars by the Aduana Stars football club.

According to her, she got into singing for the Ghana Black Stars and mobilizing support for them after the 2005 World Cup qualifiers before they traveled.

Recognized as the first female musician in Ghana to compose an official cheer song for the Black Stars of Ghana, Grace Ashly said “I think after their qualifiers, that was 2005 before we traveled, those days the then Dorman Aduana Stars won their maiden match at Tema, that is where I started.”

Grace Ashly, speaking exclusively on Max TV’s Black Stars Classics- World Cup edition, Tuesday, 21st July, 2020 said “So during that time after they won there was a Christian brother who called to inform me about Aduana Stars’ victory at Tema. I was driving so I parked and immediately an inspiration for a song for Aduana Stars came to me.”

“After that the black stars came in mind then I said if that be the case let me join the national team and support them, after that then I come back to my team because we needed support at that time,” she added.

Grace Ashly further revealed that despite she not being as vibrant as before with regards to the national team, she is willing to support and mobilize fans for the Blacks Stars for the 2021 Afcon and 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers.
