Dan Quaye, a former Ghana international, thinks social media and gambling are to blame for players’ struggles and the underwhelming state of football growth.
The former Great Olympics defender claims that players don’t spend so much time on social media presence that they can’t find time for personal training to refine the skills their coaches are teaching them, while also heavily focused on enriching themselves.
“There is a lack of quality in the system, unlike in our time, but what has spoiled football now is betting and social media. Players don’t do personal training because they will use that time to be on social media,” he told Accra-based radio station.
“They have to limit their time on social media and focus more on their training and concentrate solely on the game, and they must go all out for the supporters because football is for the fans,” he added.
