Bashiru Hayford, the head coach of the Heart of Lions, revealed the shocking reasons of his matchweek 13 post-match outburst.

The former national team head coach expressed his displeasure at Referee Franklin Akumatey’s decision to caution him in the Heart of Lions away game on Saturday.

The Ghana Football Association charged Coach Bashiru of violating Article 12(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019 during the game against Nations FC on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

In response to the GFA’s accusations on Max FM’s Sports Pack, he revealed that Referee Akumatey unprovocatively pointed at him and said, “You stupid man, if you talk nonsense, I’ll show you card.”

He continued further to allege the referee threatened to mishandle the game because of him.
