Dreams FC has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and fair play in the Ghana Premier League, stressing the need to address officiating concerns through proper channels.
This response follows accusations from Accra Lions, who alleged referee bias in their 1-0 loss to Dreams FC during the Week 16 match at the Tuba Astro Turf on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, January 7, Dreams FC supported efforts to uphold league integrity but cautioned against hypocrisy and double standards.
“While we agree on the importance of integrity, professionalism, and accountability, these principles must be pursued using appropriate channels and without hypocrisy or double standards,” the statement read.
The club highlighted the irony in Accra Lions’ criticism, pointing out that the team, which finished second last season, had celebrated its success in the same league they now question.
“Our fellow Premier League club, as runners-up last season, surely achieved this feat without refereeing controversies—based on their current assertions,” Dreams FC remarked.
Acknowledging the inevitability of human error in officiating, even in technologically advanced leagues, Dreams FC urged stakeholders with credible evidence of misconduct to follow established procedures for seeking redress.
“Refereeing infractions are a reality of football globally. Industry players must accept this and address issues professionally and constructively,” the statement concluded.
