Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has revealed that the Western Region is Ghana’s newest coronavirus hotspot.
This revelation was made by him on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, during the Ministry of Information’s press briefing on coronavirus cases.
Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, addressing the press, said the number of coronavirus cases are surging and the Western Region is the new hotspot.
“The new hotspot is in the Western region which reported about 57 new cases. It is mainly the Sekondi Takoradi municipality and the metropolis and then Tarkwa. A team will be going to see how we can quickly assist the region just like we did in Obuasi. We are rolling out enhanced contact tracing to ensure containment”.
“As of 24th May 2020 a total of about 156 new cases have been recorded in Ghana and this goes to show the new trend of showing much fewer cases”, he disclosed.
Ghana’s coronavirus case count as at now has risen to 6,964 cases.
2,097 of persons who got infected with the virus, meanwhile, have also recovered from the disease.
