Ghanaian athletes continue to make headlines in the U.S., setting new national records and proving themselves as top contenders.
At the 2024 Steve Miller Invitational in Kansas, Anita Afrifa shattered Ghana’s indoor 200m record, clocking 23.28 seconds to surpass Fling Owusu-Agyapong’s 2016 mark of 23.34 seconds.
Rose Yeboah Amoanimaa followed suit, raising her own indoor high jump record by 1cm to an impressive 1.92m.
In New York, Alex Amankwah rewrote Ghana’s indoor 800m record at the 2025 Millrose Games, clocking 1:45.82 minutes—beating his own record by 1.35 seconds. Benjamin Azamati also impressed, sprinting 6.63 seconds in the men’s 60m.
