The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, has issued a warning against the theft of reinforcement steel from the retaining wall near the Tantra Hill underpass on the Achimota–Ofankor stretch of the N6 highway.
The caution follows a viral TikTok video by Buzstopboys showing exposed steel on the wall. In a statement dated May 14, 2025, the GHA confirmed that a section of the wall had spalled, exposing rebars that have since become targets for theft by unknown individuals.
Despite the damage, the GHA assured the public that the underpass remains structurally sound and safe for use. The Authority also noted that repair works will begin soon to prevent further deterioration.
“We strongly condemn this act of vandalism,” the statement read. “Tampering with public infrastructure is a criminal offense punishable under the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (LI 2180), Section 114, Subsection 4(b).”
The GHA urged residents and commuters to stay alert and report any suspicious activity around public infrastructure to the nearest police station or the Authority’s Public Affairs Division.
