The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has disclosed through Nana Oduro Sarfo that they have not been notified of allegations against Gifty Oware-Mensah.
Mrs. Oware-Mensah, the women’s representative on the Executive Council of the GFA, is wanted by the National Intelligence Bureau for alleged fraud in the payroll of the National Service Authority.
Nana Oduro Sarfo stated in an interview with Nana Darkwa Gyasi on Max FM that the GFA has no knowledge of the accusations towards Mrs. Oware-Mensah.
“For now, no, so far as I am concerned, we have no such notification,” he said.
On reports of the GFA supposedly holding a by-election to replace the Berry Ladies chairperson, Oduro Sarfo revealed there’s no ground to do so because she has been present in every meeting via Zoom.
“This is where people get it wrong. The Ghanaian media is divided into two. When our ExCo member (Kwesi Appiah) accepted a job in Sudan after swearing an oath of allegiance with the GFA, people misinterpreted it.
Our regulations state that when a member absents him/herself three consecutive times, but as we speak, all our meetings have been held on Zoom, and Gifty Oware was present. Until we hold meetings and she absents herself three continuous times, then the by-elections come in,” Oduro Sarfo added.
She is believed to be in Morocco and, according to GhanaWeb, would be returning to Ghana with the Black Queens of Ghana.
