Jose De la Fuentes, just as any other football lover, was in absolute awe at the sight of the youngest ever goal scorer in history at a European championship.
Lamine Yamal, at 16 years and 362 days old, made an indelible mark on European football as he curled home a sumptuous equalizer for Spain twelve minutes after Kolo Muani had given France the lead in the first half of the first semifinal of the 2024 Euros.
“Speak now, speak now,” the youngster said at the end of the match after RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo scored four minutes after the equalizer to seal La Roja’s passage to yet another European final.
Yamal’s comments were obviously a response to France’s Adrien Rabiot’s pre-match comments, daring the Spaniard to show what he could do.
De la Fuentes would waste no time getting his side ready for the final on Sunday, a day after Yamal’s 17th birthday, as they await the winner of the second semifinal between the Netherlands and England.
