London-based disc jockey (DJ) Chos has hit back at Fameye over the artiste’s stage walk-off during a recent concert in London.
It could be recalled that highlife artiste, Fameye had accused DJ Chos of unprofessionalism after the DJ’s setlist failed to align with his planned musical performance, leading him to storm off.
In responding to Fameye’s outburst, DJ Chos blamed the mishap on Fameye’s inadequate preparation and limited rehearsal time.
In a statement addressing the controversy, DJ Chos apologized to fans for the disruption but countered Fameye’s allegations, explaining that the situation could have been avoided with better preparation from the artiste’s side.
He explained that Fameye attended only two brief rehearsal sessions leading up to the event.
“The first session lasted 12 minutes and took place in DJ Chos’ car after Fameye declined a formal studio session, citing fatigue.”
“The second session, held at the venue, lasted just 15 minutes, during which a specific playlist was agreed upon,” DJ Chos explained.
DJ Chos went further to state that Fameye’s team continued to request a different setlist right up until the last minute, which led to confusion and disrupted the planned performance.
Opposing the “unprofessionalism” tag, he said he had 25 years of experience in the industry, pointing to his successful collaborations with artistes like Kelvyn Boy, King Paluta, and Kweku Flick, all of whom performed seamlessly during the same event.
“I have worked with several top artistes in my career, and I have always maintained professionalism,” DJ Chos said. “It is disappointing that Fameye is trying to undermine my experience and expertise,” DJ Chos said.
He therefore advised Fameye and his management to reflect on the incident constructively and called for more thoughtful preparation in the future to avoid similar disruptions.
