Pong Senior High School in the Northern Region experienced a fire that caused significant destruction on Monday, February 2, 2026.

The fire outbreak in Pong follows that of Tolon SHS, which also occurred on the same day.

Firefighters from the Savelugu station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were dispatched swiftly to ring down the fire.

Preliminary investigations suggested the fire first broke out in the washrooms of the school before spreading to other facilities.

Earlier, the firefighters led by STNO II Hamza Dakun managed to save 15 rooms of the Tolon Senior High School Girls’ dormitory from being completely destroyed.
