The Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has shut the door on Ghana’s failure to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars of Ghana, under the guidance of current head coach Otto Addo, failed to reach Africa’s biggest football event after a string of disappointing and forgettable performances.
Angola and Sudan outclassed the Ghanaians in the qualifiers, condemning to an unwanted feet of missing out of the tournament for the first time since 2004.
Mr. Asante Twum has rallied for support for the Black Stars as they turn their full focus on securing their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, facing Chad and Madagascar in this round of qualifiers.
“That page is closed. We are beginning a new journey from Friday. So far we have won three of the four matches we’ve played in the qualifiers and lost one. We strongly believe we would qualify for Mexico, the USA, and Canada, though it won’t be easy,” he said on Max FM’s Sports Pack show.
Acknowledging the anger still residing in the hearts of many disappointed Ghanaian fans, he urged the past be forgotten and hope for the best to come.
A win for the Black Stars against Chad on Friday, March 21, could be a turn in the right direction in the quest for redemption.
