‘I Can’t Follow 2 Million People’ — Gyakie Claps Back

Date:

Songbird Gyakie has called on Ghanaians pushing an agenda for her to follow her fans back to put a stop to it.

According to her, she has been vibing with her true fans through private messages and has been supporting them.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday, Gyakie said the idea of following has eaten into the minds of some Ghanaians and wants them to know there are bigger things than following.

“There’s a bigger connection between me and my fans. Are they now telling me that I have to follow the 2 million people following me? What about not picking and choosing? Then I have to follow everybody back. So if I go and follow 20 people, how about the rest of them? That means I am picking and choosing, so let’s stop this whole thing. There’s a bigger connection happening. Me and my fans, they know me and I know them, they love me and I love them. They are not complaining,” she said.

Gyakie explained that she has been following people, including colleague musicians, on other platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and X, with only TikTok being the platform where she wasn’t following anybody.

“There are bigger things than following. We need to take our minds out of that… If I follow, let’s say, a content creator and an unpopular person, I am following you because of what you’re doing, and I like to be seeing it. It’s beautiful to me, and I am not forcing you to follow me back. I am following you because I love your content, and when I pick up my phone, I want to see what you have posted. So if I am also doing something and it’s beautiful to you, just accept that you like it and it’s beautiful to you and enjoy it,” she added.
