I became a musician just for survival— Amerado

Date:

Renowned rapper Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, known in the showbiz circles as Amerado, says he ventured into the music industry based on his quest to survive hardship.

‎According to him, he was a guy hit by hunger and was looking for a way out of his distress.

‎Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Max Morning Show in Accra on Wednesday, Amerado said the quest to be out of poverty made him discover his real talent when he was in senior high school.

‎” My reason for doing music is just one: it was based on survival. The furiousness that comes with hunger. I came from a poor home, and I discovered from SHS that I could do music,” he said.

‎As he became a professional musician and was known for his rap prowess, he explored and realised singing was selling more, leading him to embrace singing in an attempt to make money from his art.

“”I always try to evolve out of my comfort zone, which is the reason why Amerado can switch from rapping to singing,” he said.

‎The “Kwaku Ananse” hitmaker explained that he had been singing since he started his career and had still been blending the rap with singing, thus, has not switched from rapping to singing, as is being rumoured.

“”Naturally, I am not somebody you can box because if you go through my music from 2015, my singing songs are far more than my rapping songs. I try to do everything right. It is not about who is good but who is serious,” he added.
